Introducing Drone Coding in Classrooms — Directly from a Texas Instruments Calculator
Robolink’s little drone that did—CoDrone EDU—has already inspired students in over 7,000 US schools to code, fly, and imagine futures in technology. And now, after months of anticipation and testing with our educator community, the TI-Nspire™ CX II x CoDrone EDU collaboration is OFFICIALLY LIVE.
With this launch, CoDrone EDU is soaring into its next adventure: a collaboration with one of the biggest names in edtech: Texas Instruments (TI) Education Technology.
More importantly, it’s bringing future-readiness to more classrooms by letting students program CoDrone EDU directly from a Python-capable TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator. It’s the same device already trusted in math and science classes, now connected to drones for hands-on STEM learning and CTE.
Why This Collaboration Matters
We’re excited about this partnership for one big reason: access.
TI calculators are a staple in classrooms around the world. By pairing them with CoDrone EDU, schools can introduce coding, robotics, and flight into the core curriculum—without needing new laptops or tablets.
Hansol Hong, our CEO and Founder, put it best:
“Collaborating with Texas Instruments, we’re now opening the door to tens of thousands of math and science classrooms—making hands-on coding and flight accessible through a device that’s already on so many students’ desks.”
This isn’t just about drones. It’s about helping more students see themselves in STEM and the career pathways that open from it—from aerospace engineering and logistics to agriculture, emergency response, and beyond. We don’t believe everyone has to go into STEM, but we do want every student to know that they have multiple, exciting career options.
How Schools and Districts Can Get Started
Want to bring the TI-Nspire CX II x CoDrone EDU configuration to your classrooms? Here’s how:
-
Use TI-Nspire™ CX II calculators with OS version 6.3 or later. Shop calculators from Texas Instrument at: education.ti.com.
-
Go to robolink.com to get drones and the CoDrone EDU x TI configuration cable:
-
Get started: Access free step-by-step guides, Python module information, and classroom activities at education.ti.com/codrone
-
Share your story: Tag @robolinkinc and @TICalculators on X or wherever you share your STEM and CTE adventures.
Note: The TI-Nspire CX II x CoDrone EDU setup is only compatible with CoDrone EDU at this time (not the CoDrone EDU JROTC edition).
Where Futures Take Flight
Together, Robolink and Texas Instruments are helping schools expand STEM and CTE opportunities while giving students future-ready skills. From classrooms to career pathways to Python, this collaboration brings coding, problem-solving, and hands-on engagement into everyday learning.
The little drone that did isn’t slowing down—it’s just getting started and reaching even more students with a little help from its friends in educational technology.
