Installation

To utilize the full potential of CoDrone, we use the Arduino development environment. Follow these quick steps to ensure your Arduino software and our CoDrone libraries are properly installed on your computer.

  1. Download and install the latest Arduino Integrated Development Environment or (IDE).
    • You can download the IDE from the Arduino Website
    • Select and download the appropriate package for your operating system:

2. Open and run the downloaded installer

3.  Select all components:

Select 14. Select ‘Install’ to begin the installation to the default directory:

5. Arduino should begin installing!  When it’s finished, just hit close and you should see the Arduino Icon appear on your desktop:

1. In order to use the CoDrone functions within the Arduino IDE, you need to install the CoDrone Library through the Arduino Library Manager .

2. To add the CoDrone library files to your Arduino Library Manager, first open Arduino IDE and navigate to:

Sketch > Include Library > Manage Libraries

3.  In the ‘Library Manager’ dialog box that appears, search for “CoDrone” in the search box:

4. You should see ‘CoDrone by Robolink’.  [If you do not see the CoDrone library, update your Arduino IDE]

Select the library and click the ‘Install’ button that appears:

Install5. You should now see the word ‘INSTALLED‘ next to the CoDrone library.

1. To use the CoDrone codes with the Arduino IDE, you need to install the Rokit Smart Inventor board files using the Arduino Board Manager.

Open Arduino and navigate to:

File > Preferences   (For Mac Users:  Arduino > Preferences)

2. In the ‘Preferences’ window that appears, locate the “Additional Boards Manager URLs” box and paste this URL:

pasted image 0 (1)3. Hit OK to close the ‘Preferences’ window, and navigate to:

Tools > Boards > Boards Manager

In the “Type” box, change it from “All” to “Contributed”:

4. Find the package “rokit by ROBOLINK”.  If it says “INSTALLED”, then your hardware is properly and installed, and you’re finished!  If not, then click the package and select “Install”.

 1. The last step to get your CoDrone programs working properly is to install the USB Driver for your Inventor Board.
Download the driver from the silabs download page. Select the appropriate driver for your operating system, (Download VCP) or choose from the list below:

Windows (7/8/8.1/10)

 Mac OSX 

Linux 3.x.x

2.  Save the file to desktop. While the file download completes, extract/unzip/uncompress the file to a new folder and run the appropriate ‘CP210xVCPInstaller_x…exe’ for your operating system.  For Windows, you can determine your x64 or x86 bit operating system by going to the Start menu, right clicking This PC (Or My Computer), and selecting Properties.

 3. Run the Installer.  If successful, your driver should now be installed!  Restart Arduino and follow the next steps to begin uploading your code.
